Pour

Pour by artist Holton Rower

Directing, Cinematography, Editing  by Dave Kaufman

Holton Rower approaches painting with his unique, yet simple technique – pouring paint. Oddly, I find that even though the paint is random as it flows down the plywood platform, there is still a sense of control and elegance to the flowing motion of the liquid. The visual impact of the painting is only made more powerful by the use of vivid and contrasting colours. The fact that they don’t mix and that the artist doesn’t want them to mix adds to the ‘control’ as there are still visible boundaries between the colours, despite the loose pool of liquid that settles at the bottom which gives the art a psychedelic feeling.
